WOMEN OF IRELAND
A brand new musical act from Ireland, the "Women of Ireland" is filling audience theatres across the US with its stunning performances by Irish female leading vocalists and musicians. This tour marks the inaugural performance of ‘Women of Ireland' in the U.S.A. and comes ahead of a worldwide tour during 2009/10.
The 2009 US tour features ‘Women of Ireland' (January-March) tour stars Michelle Lally (vocals), Denise Brennan (vocals), Ingrid Madsen (vocals), Athena Tergis (Fiddle) & Fiona Collins (dance) amongst other special guests and is accompanied by the distinguished "Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra".
The female artists making up the act ‘Women of Ireland' are delighted to be sharing the stage with the legendary Irish fiddle player and revered musician Frankie Gavin. In the past year alone Frankie aka De Dannan and now front man for hit band "Hibernian Rhapsody" has played support to the Rolling Stones at Slane Castle, performed twice to a full to capacity of 80,000 people at Croke Park Stadium, Ireland during Irish national sporting occasions, performed with the U.A.E. Philharmonic Orchestra in Dubai and performed at The White House for President Bush.
Speaking about the tour, creator & producer Eric Cunningham, Celtic Entertainments is looking forward to showcasing the production in the US:
"Women of Ireland" is an innovative and exciting full stage concert production which showcases the next generation of Ireland's leading female performers. This show will demonstrate the well of talent that exists within Ireland's traditions of music, song and dance. The common theme inherent in all performances will be the presentation of the most revered qualities of Ireland's ethnic music which will be transported from the Irish fireside to the international concert hall platform. Special significance will be placed on depicting the pure qualities of Irish music in a contemporary setting. I do you hope you enjoy the performances as much as I have enjoyed being part of the process which brought it to this point. "
The name "Women of Ireland" refers to a beautiful piece of music bearing the same name and known in the Irish language as ‘Mná na hÉireann', which translates as ‘Women of Ireland'.
"Women of Ireland", the act, will showcase various female artists during different tours in different territories in an effort to demonstrate the well of talent that exists within Ireland's traditions of music, song and dance. A recording featuring the ‘Women of Ireland' with the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra is also available at all the concerts.
